The Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Paul Asare Ansah has assured that the Tema drydock would soon be developed into a world class facility.
At his first interaction with management and staff of the Tema Shipyard, Paul Ansah revealed that several companies have expressed interest to partner the GPHA to develop the Tema shipyard.
He said the drydock will also be developed to the point that it could participate in the fabrication business in the oil and gas industry of the country.
As part of efforts to make the drydock a vibrant organisation, Paul Ansah said a business development department will be created to bring in strategic investors.
The DG of GPHA has approved an amount of GH¢13.3milion for the procurement of some equipment for the drydock.
The acting CEO of Tema Shipyard, Captain Kwesi Micah believes the shipyard would be buoyant after the injection of the capital.
The interaction afforded the DG of GPHA the opportunity listen to some of the concerns of the staff of the drydock.
Some of the staff assured the Director General and his team of their unalloyed support.
