Over the past decade the Port Authourity has expanded the existing port, built new terminals, upgraded IT systems, and widened operational partnerships and networks. This is reflected by the port’s ability to handle increasing volumes of traffic from 7.3 million tonnes in 2003 to 12.1million tonnes  in 2015. Development projects completed in 2016 include a new reefer Terminal, a four (4) berth bulk jetty, a one stop service revenue and data centre, the refurbishment of the transit terminal and the electronic gating system amongst many others. Please check our future and History page to read more on ongoing projects.

Various products used in our day to day lives have passed through the port. Either wholly or, partially as a raw material. Cargo types handled include Agri Bulk, bagged cargo, containerized cargo, dry bulk, forest products, frozen cargo, general cargo, iron/steel, liquid bulk, machinery/equipment, and vehicles. Professional stevedores and shorehandlers are readily available with the expertise and equipment to handle your precious cargo.

The port is an autonomous public port. However there is immense collaboration with the private sector. Shipping, transport, haulage, port terminal operators and many others work in tandem with the port authority to provide stellar service.

We are one of the most secure ports in the sub region. Both sea side and land side surveillance are consistent and top notch.
