Participants of Course 2 of the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) have paid a study visit to the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) as part of their academic engagement.


The visit aimed to provide participants with first-hand insights into institutions involved in policy formulation, statecraft, and international affairs, thereby enriching their understanding of real-world applications of their coursework.


The participants were received by the Director-General of GPHA, Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kolonu, who is a former Director of Studies at the NCDS.


The Director of Studies at the NCDS, Brigadier General Frederick Ntiri, noted that the overall objective of the visit was to enable participants to assess how theoretical frameworks are applied in practice, especially within the evolving global, continental, and regional contexts. He further underscored the importance of aligning strategic leadership and policymaking with sustainable development goals.


Addressing the participants, the Director-General of GPHA, Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kolonu, highlighted the Authority’s operational efficiency and ongoing initiatives aimed at reducing the cost of doing business at Ghana’s ports.


Delivering a presentation to the participants, the General Manager of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at GPHA, Dr. Kingsley Antwi-Boasiako, emphasized the Authority’s commitment to sustainable development, aligning with the principles of SMART governance.
