The Ship Owners and Agents Association of Ghana (SOAAG) paid a visit to the Acting Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono to discuss opportunities for collaboration and strengthening partnerships within the Port and Shipping industry.
Led by the Executive Secretary of SOAAG, Adam Ayarna Imoru, the association reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the GPHA to enhance the attractiveness of Ghana's Ports to the Shipping lines.
He spoke about the need do things in line with proper legal frameworks to ensure business continuity. Ayarna Imoru also called for improved security within and outside of the port to protect the containers of shipping lines.
The Acting Director General of GPHA, Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono in turn, called for deeper collaboration between stakeholders to reduce the cost of doing business at Ghana’s ports.
He highlighted the need for innovative solutions and coordinated efforts to make the country’s ports more competitive, efficient, and business-friendly.
Brigadier General Tanye-Kulono revealed that discussions are underway with stakeholders to operationalise the 24hour economy as espoused by the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, a move which was welcomed by SOAAG.
This engagement marks the beginning of a strengthened working relationship between GPHA and SOAAG, aimed at fostering a seamless and efficient port ecosystem that benefits businesses and the national economy.
