The Tema Chapter of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye Kulono, at his office in Tema on Tuesday, 23rd September 2025.
Led by its Chairman, Mr. Michael Dewornu, the delegation expressed the Association’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with GPHA, particularly in the area of public education and accurate reportage on port and maritime industry issues.
Mr. Dewornu underscored the role of the media as partners in national development and urged GPHA to consider organizing training programmes to build the capacity of journalists in Tema. He stated that Tema GJA is building a strong welfare system for its members and called for GPHA’s support and partnership.
In his response, Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono warmly welcomed the delegation and described the media as a key partner in promoting the Authority’s work. He assured the Association that GPHA would consider their request for training programmes aimed at boosting the professional capacity of journalists in maritime and port reportage.
The Director General also encouraged journalists to always crosscheck facts with GPHA before publishing to ensure balanced and factual reporting. He commended the cordial relationship between GPHA and the media over the years and called for continued collaboration to advance the common goal of accurate information dissemination and public education.
